How To Clean: Stainless Steel Sex Toys

Stainless steel, as the name suggests is steel that’s stainless. What makes this steel more stainless than typical steel is the number of chromium (chemical) present in the steel. However, even though it doesn’t rust or stain like ordinary steel does, it’s still not FULLY, 100% stainless.

With the same volume of substance, stainless steel is heavier than most material due to its density. It is also hypoallergenic, non-porous, and can be sterilized.

How does it feel? Is this material the right choice for me?

Stainless steel feels almost the same as borosilicate glass sex toys. Both are rigid and firm, as well as extremely smooth and frictionless. However, due to the rigidity and firmness, this material is not a favorite for everyone. The firmness of this material greatly increases the weight of the toy, which would decrease the stamina faster, and the rigidity provides a non-life feel that some people are not fond of.

On the other side, the rigidity and firmness of this material provides feeling beyond incredible. The weight and solidity of toys made of stainless steel can add the extra pressure needed to stimulate the pleasurable spots.

Another aspect that might provide a mixed feeling is the ability of this material to maintain the temperature. Being able to control the temperature of a toy can be an extra umph when it comes to play. Sadly, this material maintains the temperature a little bit too well. If it’s cold, the toy can be extremely cold, and you might need to warm it up a little bit – If it’s hot, it can be extremely hot and you’ll need to cool it down before play. To make the story shorter, you just need to verify with your hands that the toy is at the right temperature before inserting or putting it on other parts of your body.

Depending on your preferences, this material could be perfect for you. It’s also non-porous, hypoallergenic and phthalate-free. Oh! And I almost forgot to say, vibrators are rarely, or almost never, made of stainless steel.

Is stainless steel durable?

Extremely. With minimal care, stainless steel can last you for a lifetime. It won’t rust, corrode or stain as long as you keep it away from strong acid (yes, citric fruit juices count too as well as pickles) and high salinity (you know…for those that like to eat or cook next to their sex toys). Just remember to wash the toy before and after each use, and you will be able to stick with that toy for the rest of your life. Of course, toys made of stainless steel cost a little fortune, but definitely worth it.

Sex toys made of stainless steel are extremely easy to clean

  • Soap and warm water
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Can be boiled (condition applies, please make sure with the manufacturer)
  • Can be put in dishwasher (please make sure with the manufacturer)

  • 10% bleach solution
  • Soap/Cleaner containing Chlorine

Since stainless steel is non-porous, it is totally fine to share a toy made of stainless steel with partner(s). BUT! ALWAYS, ALWAYS sanitize the toy before passing it along. Additionally, storing toys made of stainless steel can be extremely easy. Just keep it far away from jelly toys, and you’ll be fine.

It can also be RECYCLED! Fully recycled! But I doubt you’ll be giving away your lifetime toy right?

With a silky smooth surface like the one of this material, lubes stay and travel on it like water.  That’s not all, stainless steel material can take up any types of lube – whether its water-, oil-, silicone-, or mixed-based. They will all last a very long time. Enjoy your stainless steel sex toys!
